About
From Kutztown-LUG
The GNU/Linux Users Group in Kutztown, Pennsylvania is an organization founded in 2005 dedicated to the GNU/Linux operating system. Our goal is to provide an environment for open source software and GNU/Linux to flourish in the community. We provide a means for local users to connect with each other for support, promotion and educational purposes.
GNU/Linux is a computer operating system like Microsoft Windows or Mac OS. With the support of individuals, cooperations, and organizations GNU/Linux has grown in support and popularity.
While many different interest groups take part in the success of GNU/Linux it wouldn't be what it is today without some of the early founders who believed in a free and open operating system. Unlike with proprietary systems like Mac OS and Microsoft Windows GNU/Linux users are free to download, modify and redistribute most software without charge. Some of the benefits of this have been a lower cost of ownership, security, and overall peace of mind.
